The intention of offering subjects at Higher 3 (H3) level is to further develop the top 10 -15 % of the ‘A’ level cohort students in order to achieve peaks of excellence within the context of a broad-based education. It also allows students to engage in different forms of learning and research work.

Thus, H3 subjects should only be offered by students who are academically able to cope with additional subject(s) on top of their H1 and H2 subjects.

Students can offer up to a maximum of two H3 subjects. The grading system for H3 subjects is as follows: Distinction, Merit, Pass and Ungraded.

Currently the H3 subjects being offered to students are

A. University Undergraduate Modules (conducted by respective university lecturers)
B. Extended, In-Depth Research (namely H3-STaR, SRP & HSSRP)
C. MOE-Developed Examinable Syllabus (conducted by NJC teachers)
