Integrated Programme (Direct School Admission)


Direct School Admission into 6-year IP Programme for Academic Year 2021 – DSA-Sec Exercise 2020

The Direct School Admission-Sec (DSA-Sec) Exercise is conducted annually. We invite all interested 2020 Primary 6 students to apply for National Junior College’s 6-year Integrated Programme via the DSA-Sec Exercise.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop their potential and talents.

Students who are successfully admitted to National Junior College via DSA-Sec are expected to honour their commitment to the school for the duration of the six-year Integrated Programme, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for throughout Junior High (i.e. Years 1 – 4).

Talent Areas 

We invite students with special talents and/or achievements in the following areas to apply:

Sports and Games Basketball
Cross Country; Track and Field
Softball (girls only)
Performing Arts Band – Concert
Dance – Chinese
Dance – Contemporary
Dance – Indian
Dance – Malay
Ensemble – Guitar
Ensemble – Guzheng
Ensemble – String
Music (will be required to take Music as an academic subject for 4 years in Junior High)
Orchestra – Chinese
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Aesthetics & Mathematics) (will be required to be engaged in and lead STEAM-based activities for 4 years in Junior High)
Visual Arts, Design and Media Art Elective Programme (will be required to take Art as an academic subject for 4 years in Junior High)


Applications for the DSA-Sec are free-of-charge and must be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. Applications open on 12 May 2020 (Tue), 9 am and close on 5 June 2020 (Fri), 3 pm.

Selection Process

Applicants will be shortlisted and selected based on the following general criteria:

  1. Demonstrate passion for and commitment to the area of interest;
  2. Exemplify positive character traits, including resilience, motivation and integrity;
  3. Display a commitment to contribute to the school, through the area of interest as well as other opportunities to serve; and
  4. Possess good academic potential to thrive in the Integrated Programme.

All shortlisted candidates will be notified via email by 17 July 2020 to attend an e-interview via video conferencing with the Principal, Vice-Principals, HODs and/or the CCA teachers. The video conference may also include an audition / trial. More details on the performance task will be provided in the email notification. In light of the Covid-19 situation, we will not be conducting any in-person interviews, auditions or trials.

Applicants must attend the e-interview from their current primary school.

The e-interviews will take place between 1 July and 14 September 2020.

Offer of Places

Applicants who are shortlisted for interviews will be notified via email of the results of the DSA-Sec application by 14 September 2020. Successful applicants will be offered a place in National Junior College’s 6-year Integrated Programme for the academic year 2021.
