Integrated Programme (Direct School Admission)



All 2018 Primary 6 students are welcome to apply for entry into the NJC 6-Year Integrated Programme (IP) for Junior High 1 beginning 2019.


Selection Criteria

Applicants can choose to be considered for Direct School Admission under the following categories of talent:

Sports and Games: Basketball, Canoeing/Dragon Boat, Shooting, Squash, Track and Field/Cross-Country, Softball (Girls only)

Performing Arts: Choir, Chinese Dance, Malay Dance, Indian Dance, Western Dance, String Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Chinese Orchestra/Guzheng Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble

Art Excellence (for the Art Elective Programme)

Music Excellence (for the Music Programme)


Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend the first round which comprise trials and auditions. Past experience in the talent category of choice is not a requirement.

You are to apply to ONE category, please choose one that you feel strongly about committing to.

Upon being successful in the trial/audition, students will be notified to attend an interview, during which they are assessed through a series of questions to determine the following:

  • Potential to cope with the rigour of the Integrated Programme, which includes both academic and co-curricular demands.
  • Ability to be both a team player and an independent learner
  • Sound character in line with NJC’s values of Civility, Altruism, Resilience and Enterprise


Application Procedure and Selection Phases

The application period is from 11 May 2018 9am to 02 July 2018 5pm.

Students NOT studying in MOE mainstream schools, including Singapore citizens (SC), Singapore permanent residents (SPR), and international students please proceed to MOE Customer Service Centre to obtain a registration number (in the form RGxxxxxx) before applying.

International students who are NOT from MOE mainstream schools are required to pass the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) test before they can be considered for DSA. See MOE link for details.

DSA Selection Phase 1: Selection Trials and Auditions [3 July to 26 July 2018]

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a trial/audition for the category that they have chosen. Applicants may choose ONLY ONE category for DSA consideration.

You will be told of the date and time for the trial/audition, and other details if you are shortlisted. It will be held in NJC.

You are not required to submit any school results or CCA records at this phase.

DSA Selection Phase 2: Interview [end July-August 2018]

Only successful candidates after Selection Phase 1 will be invited for Phase 2. You will be notified to participate in this selection phase via email or phone call.

This is also the phase where your school results and CCA records will be required.

In this phase, you will be invited for an interview on a scheduled weekday afternoon or Saturday morning. The interview panel (comprising the Principal/ Vice-Principal and a few teachers) will have a chat with you and ask you some questions to determine if NJC is a good fit for you.

Successful candidates after Selection Phase 2 will be offered a place in NJC.

Mailing of Decisions

Decisions will be mailed to you at the end of August 2018.


Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
